For Drew by oibyrd For Drew by oibyrd
For my good friend :icondigidrew: - he lost a lifelong friend (his cat Buster) and could use all the love we can throw at him  Love you Drew!!

People forget - or don't understand - that pets are family. For sixteen years he was at Drew's side - so I'm sure that the pain he felt saying goodbye to Buster is no different than it is for a lifelong friend of the human variety ;)

I didn't ask permission to use this image of Drews - and so it will not be a normal posting in my gallery - just a tribute whipped up for a person I admire and care about :) So yeah...no sticky paws on his pics without permission ;)

Just before I saw this I was thinking of Buster. For some reason Buster would always "fight" me as I would put clean sheets on the bed. I looked over my shoulder a moment ago, saw the bed empty and thought "Buster isn't on the bed, I can make it in peace!" Sigh. It is interesting how memories come back at odd times.

Sandi, Thank you so much for such a wonderful, thoughtful gift. I say thank you despite you making me cry...

I found his old collar in the garage a few days ago. All scratched up and worn but clearly stamped, TUNA. I looked away quickly but the thoughts flooded in anyways.
All 16 years.
What a lucky human i am to have had the joy & lessons he brought.

Thinking about him again later on that night... I asked my dog, "Wheres Tuna?".
He got up and started sniffing the front door. I tried to explain and convince us that hes tear'n up some couch in heaven sleeping on clean laundry in baskets of gold, but i opened the front door anyhow.

We have a cat aptly named Toe Biter, he has a love of chewing on my daughters toes.. he doesn't do it to anyone else in the house..lol I tell her it is cause her feet stink the most..lol.
Over the years we have lost cats some we had for many many years some we barely got to know, but they all leave a bit of them selves in our hearts.
I can empathize and sympathize with your sorrow.

We got Buster a few weeks after the kids moved in with us. Jason was 5 at the time and was not very kind to Buster. At night, Buster would climb up the ladder to Jason's bunk bed and bite his toes. We would wake up to screams. Smiles. It was a great lesson on being kind...
Thank you for your kind words.
